The Triangle Branch of USGBC North Carolina is excited and energized about moving sustainability and green building forward in our state.

USGBC North Carolina has established three pillars to help synthesize and streamline our efforts in green building: Build Green, Live Green, and Teach Green. To be proactive and efficient, we must first strategically examine where we are and understand our baseline.

At this bi-monthly event, which has been approved for 1 CE hour by GBCI and AIA, we will hear from experts on these topics, looking specifically at needs in commercial, residential, and educational building types. Reviewing USGBC North Carolina's 10-year Vision Plan, USGBC North Carolina's Chair Shaun Ferguson, a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley, will set the stage and frame the discussion for our three panelists and experts:

  • Scott Cutler, Vice President of Clancy & Theys Construction Company, will address the state of green construction in the commercial sector;
  • Randy Lanou, President of BuildSense, will review the state of green home building, and where the industry is going;
  • Dan Schnitzer, Sustainability Coordinator for the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District, will talk about the state of green in K-12 settings

This session will provide a baseline and foundation for the future project work or our members, as well as to provide a frame the bi-monthly sessions for the remainder of 2016. A buffet lunch included.
