Join USGBC Minnesota on Nov. 3 for a seminar about human health and well-being in work environments, the carbon equation and environmental restoration for our future.
Speakers: Bill Browning and Paul Hawken
In our ever-changing world, we seek a better understanding of our environment and the role of industry to chart our future. The past few years have focused on developing systems to ensure better-designed buildings and responsible use of materials. The industry is now transitioning toward a focus on the health and well-being of its occupants.
Leading researcher and author, Bill Browning, has been exploring the economics of biophilic design and will provide us with valuable insight into how our design practices can affect staff retention, job performance, productivity, creativity and the general well-being of individuals.
Next, we will expand our scope and explore the impact of our decisions on the planet. World renowned environmentalist, author, and entrepreneur Paul Hawken has dedicated his life to sustainability and changing the relationship between business and the environment.
His original book, Ecology of Commerce written nearly 25 years ago, caused many organizations to evaluate their impact on the environment and adopt common sense solutions. In his new book Drawdown (April 2017), Paul describes when and how humanity can reach climate drawdown, the point at which greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere begin to decline on a year-to-year basis.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Event starts at 6 p.m.
