Who are the candidates?

The annual Board election process begins with a self-nomination period during the spring or summer months. A set of criteria are posted for each open seat, and interested individuals may submit their qualifications via the online tool. The typical application, with slight changes from year to year, can include 20-30 short answer and essay questions plus a current resume or professional biography.

The Nominating Working Group of the Governance Committee, comprised of volunteers, then reviews all nominations and recommends a number of candidates subject to the approval of the USGBC Executive Committee. Once approved, those candidates participate in a member-wide election.

There are five open elected directorships per year.
