The mission of the Parkway School District is to ensure all students are capable, curious, and confident learners who understand and respond to the challenges of an ever-changing world.
Parkway has 18 elementary schools, five middle schools, five high schools - four traditional and one non-traditional - and an early childhood center. With about 17,400 students, it is one of the largest districts in St. Louis County and in Missouri.
Parkway's 28 schools and early childhood center are renowned for their achievements, with 14 Blue Ribbon Awards for Excellence in Education from the US Department of Education and 17 Gold Star Awards from the State of Missouri. While each school is unique, collectively they make up one of the highest performing school districts in the country.
Parkway's commitment to environmental stewardship is long standing. It began in large part after a student presentation to the Board of Education in 1990 persuaded the district to begin a recycling program. Since that time, the district has continued to make a commitment to sustainability through energy management strategies, recycling, indoor air quality management, solar pv at all schools, compressed natural gas buses, and more! Within Parkway's strategic plan, the district seeks to ensure ongoing programs to conserve energy and other resources.
