Sustainable Building Advisor Institute
The SBA Institute creates high value green building educational programs providing professionals with comprehensive, relevant curriculum in an environment where relationships develop and opportunities can emerge. Graduates are prepared to take a leadership role in the competitive world of green building.
The Sustainable Building Advisor Institute (SBAi) creates and oversees the Sustainable Building Advisor (SBA) curriculum, which is delivered by SBA Providers across the USA and in Canada.
The purpose of this unique and comprehensive sustainable building program is to give practicing professionals the tools that they need to make the built environment more sustainable.
Over 1280 students have graduated from the course; since 2005, more than 1000 graduates have passed the professional exam to become Certified Sustainable Building Advisors.
The SBA Institute is a natural outgrowth of a successful program that was first offered in 1999 to working professionals by Seattle City Light and Seattle Central Community College. In 2004, in response to requests for a similar training nationwide, comprehensive and customizable course materials were developed for use at other locations. In 2005, the organization incorporated as the National Sustainable Building Advisor Program (NaSBAP). In 2010, the name was changed to the Sustainable Building Advisor Institute (SBAi). In 2013 Lifelong Education Institute purchased the SBA Program.
