United Community Services
“to build community partnerships which will assess community economic, educational, and social needs, and develop strategies for delivering programs to meet those needs.”
United Community Services is a community-based organization serving Reading and the Berks County area. Founded in 1998, United Community Services' primary focus is worker training program. These programs target in-school youth, out-of-school youth and incumbent workers. Many of the training programs reach out to individuals who are underrepresented in the building and construction trades to provide pre-apprenticeship making them more marketable to an employer. United Community Services also has a monthly food pantry and is a United Way HelpLink site providing community benefits resources. It also is part of the Pennsylvania Rapid Response team offering support and resources to laid-off workers.
