Hello world

Ann Sawyer is a registered architect and serves as Senior Project Manager with a diverse background in building design and construction management. She is a LEED Accredited Professional who has a broad knowledge of building technology developed from decades of professional practice. She has experience in many varying project types including public facilities, commercial, industrial and residential buildings. She has practiced internationally and is currently registered in Arizona and Hawaii. In addition to managing her own architectural firm, she has worked in offices ranging from small partnerships to multi-national joint ventures.

As an architect Ann has assumed responsibilities in every aspect of project delivery. Particular experience includes construction document production, CADD drawing, consultant coordination and specification writing. She is certified as a Construction Document Technologist by the Construction Specifications Institute.

Construction Management is another aspect of Ann’s technical expertise. After earning a Master’s Degree from the Del E. Webb School of Construction she worked for Chanen Construction Company of Phoenix for seven years. During that time she held technical and managerial roles in a number of large scale public projects, primarily acting as Owners’ representative for the City of Phoenix. She served as Project Engineer on the Construction Managers’ team for the Phoenix History Museum and parking garage at the City’s Heritage Square Park. A much larger project stretching over several years was the relocation of the entire Air National Guard Base at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. She was part of the Program Managers’ team acting as a Project Manager and Resident Engineer overseeing multiple design and construction contracts for numerous buildings.

Participation in many projects having large, complex groups of stakeholders and participants has allowed Ann to develop skills in communicating and coordinating information, clarifying roles and responsibilities, resolving disputes, and building consensus. These skills have served her well as she has steered over 20 projects through the LEED certification process and assisted with many more. She has led the project management team at Green Ideas in the development of resources, tools and processes and has served as mentor and trainer for new colleagues and interns. She serves as a knowledgeable resource regarding building elements, and design and construction practices.

Ann has had a life-long interest in building communities and promoting sustainability. She has been active with various professional organizations including the U.S. Green Building Council, American Institute of Architects, International Facility Managers Association and the Construction Specifications Institute. She also served as a VISTA volunteer with the Hawaii Community Design Center. Acting as a Project Manager for Green Ideas allows Ann to merge her professional abilities with her life-long passion for sustainability and the green building industry.
