Barb Yankie founded Green Building Consulting and Homes and is the President of both. She entered into the Energy Efficiency industry in 1999 and expanded into the Green and Sustainable area in 2004. As a USGBC Faculty member, she is considered an expert practitioner in the green building industry and is authorized to teach USGBC education programs. USGBC Faculty are the official instructors of USGBC's instructor-led workshops working with USGBC's education delivery partners. Barb is approved to teach the following instructor-led workshops:
* LEED 101: Green Building Basis and LEED
* LEED 201: Core Concepts and Strategies
* Homes 252: Understanding the LEED for Homes Rating System
* Homes 301: Implementing the LEED for Homes Rating System
* Homes 401: Green Rater Training

Barb has been a member of USGBC National, the Cincinnati Chapter, and the
Residential Green Committee for a number of years. She is currently serving
on the Cincinnati Chapter’s Board of Directors and is the Board Co-Chair of
the Events/Programs committee.

Since becoming involved in the certification process for green programs, she
has participated in over 200 certified projects as a LEED for Homes
Provider and/or LEED Green Rater. Green Building Consulting currently has over 200 projects in 9 states at some stage of the LEED for Homes process. She has certified thousands of homes as ENERGY STAR and/or HERS rated.

Barb is currently a LEED for Homes Provider, LEED AP - Homes, LEED Faculty member, LEED for Homes Quality Assurance Designee, LEED Green Rater, Enterprise Green Communities Technical Assistance (TA) Provider, HERS Rating Provider, HERS rater, RESNET Green Rater, NAHB verifier, DOE Challenge Home Verifier, and LEVEL II Infrared Thermographer (ASNT Compliant). Barb is also a member of the RESNET (Residential Energy Services Network) National Board of Directors and is currently serving on their Infrared Scanning Standard Task Force and the Strategic Positioning Task Force. She has also served on the Infrared Standard Drafting Committee and the Green Rater Certification Task Force. Some additional current and past affiliations include Energy Star Partner, Habitat for Humanity Partner, BPI Technical Advisory Committee member, NAHB Energy Value Housing Award and Builder of the Year Award Judge, ACI Core Conference Committee Member, and Home Builders Association member.
