Climate and Energy Programs Manager, City and County of San Francisco
Cal Broomhead is the Climate and Energy Programs Manager at the SF Department of
Environment where he has developed and managed the City's private sector
energy programs, renewable energy and climate action.
Cal has 28 years in the energy field, now 25 years with San Francisco. He
started as a home weatherization installer and salesman and providing
barn-raising style solar and home energy workshops. Cal has designed energy
efficiency improvements for dozens of City renovation and retrofit projects,
started the City’s Green Building program, and has managed over $25 million
in efficiency programs providing over 9000 local businesses and building
owners with energy efficiency retrofits. He is managing $5 million in
Stimulus funds he secured for residential projects. He also helped author the
City’s Sustainability Plan, Electricity Resource Plan, Climate Action Plan,
and several local laws.
