Policy and Data Communications Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council
As USGBC's communications specialist focused on policy, data and research, Cecilia has successfully managed PR and communications campaigns that reach communities, policy makers, business leaders, green building professionals and media to advocate for better buildings. She is a frequent contributor to USGBC’s online article platform and serves on the editorial board for the the award-winning magazine, USGBC+. She writes on financial mechanisms and polices that promote green building, renewable energy and energy efficiency and affordability, and she works with media to promote relevant research and data around green building. In 2014 Cecilia co-created and launched an initiative within USGBC to empower and engage young women as the next generation of green building experts, business leaders and policy leaders. Bringing Up Girls (BUG) pairs Girl Scouts with USGBC staff mentors to bring a community service project to life as a Green Apple Day of Service project.
Cecilia’s passionate focus remains on efficiency, equity and the power of storytelling -- with an emphasis on data and metrics. She is a Georgia native and graduate of the University of Georgia and holds a Master of Science in Public Policy from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She remains connected to the work of the USGBC Georgia Chapter and green building policy across her home state.
