Charalampos Giannikopoulos is the founder of DCarbon, a consultancy firm
whose goal is to provide top-quality analysis and strengthen existing values
in the real-estate sector through the seamless integration of sustainable
development tools, optimum efficiency and innovative marketing.
Charalampos started his career in the UK as the Sustainability Coordinator of
the R&D group at Aedas, a global leading architectural firm, jumping to the
business consultancy sector focusing on environmental investments and PPP
projects. In 2011 he was involved in the inaugural implementation of LEED in
Greece at large–scale commercial projects, as the first LEED AP to be
appointed in Greece.
Charalampos has extensive experience in participating in multi-disciplinary
teams on major international projects including the “Masdar City”
sustainable masterplan and the “Abu Dhabi Investment Council” development
in Abu Dhabi. As of today Charalampos has been involved in prominent
commercial, industrial and educational projects in the region where
sustainable consultancy strengthens existing value through better efficiency,
sustainable integration and marketing tools.
Implementation of LEED v4 at industrial buildings, LEED for Existing
Buildings, the german rating system DGNB, dynamic energy modeling, LCA and
green advocacy are among DCarbon’s endeavors. Charalampos through DCarbon
has been involved in 100% of all completed LEED projects in Greece, having
being involved up to date in 85% of all completed and under development LEED
projects in the country.
In a personal capacity, Charalampos is a member of the Technical Advisory
Group of the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a USGBC Pro Reviewer, a
founding member of the Sustainable Building Council of Greece, a LEED
Accredited Professional with the “Building Design + Construction”,
“Interior Design + Construction”, "Neighborhood Development" and “Operations + Maintenance” specialties accredited by the GBCI, an Estidama Pearl Qualified Professional
accredited by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council and a DGNB Consultant
accredited by the German Sustainable Building Council.
