Chrissa Pagitsas leads Fannie Mae’s Multifamily Green Initiative and manages Multifamily’s risk due to environmental issues, including natural disasters. In this role, Ms. Pagitsas develops and executes the strategy to enhance Fannie Mae Multifamily’s Green Financing mortgage loan products and to integrate energy and water efficiency metrics and practices throughout the underwriting and asset management processes.
Under her guidance, the Fannie Mae Multifamily Mortgage Business has originated over $30M in Green Financing loans and issued over $150M in Green Mortgage Backed Securities (MBS). Financial innovations included integrating energy and water efficiency projected cost savings into standard underwriting processes and disclosing a property’s Green Building Certification rating system to MBS investors. Additionally, Ms. Pagitsas provides technical guidance on green building principles, energy and water efficiency practices, LEED and ENERGY STAR.
Her prior experience includes serving as a project manager and consultant to commercial real estate owners on environmental sustainability strategies, advising clients on energy management investment strategies in emerging markets, and implementing large scale utility data and financial management solutions for utility companies in the U.S. and Europe.
Ms. Pagitsas holds an MBA from the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia and a BA from Johns Hopkins University.
