As Manager of Residential Operations at the U.S. Green Building Council, Courtney Baker is in charge of program management for the Residential Market Development team. He joined USGBC just before the formal launch of the LEED for Homes rating system and was responsible for developing the operation and support systems for the program from scratch. Courtney was also responsible for the development and refinement of the quality assurance protocols for the LEED for Homes delivery model which included the training and oversight of 38 organizations nationwide.
Most recently, Courtney directed the development of the industry’s first self-guided residential scoring tool which helps homeowners and design professionals accurately assess the sustainability of a potential project without having to input technical information. In addition, he is in charge of managing the LEED for Homes International Pilot and is the residential lead for the Green Building Information Gateway research initiative.
Prior to joining USGBC, he was a consultant to custom home builders and developers on integrated sub-system control and home automation systems. He has also served in several construction management roles and has advised several start-up companies in the retail, restaurant and energy monitoring industries.
Courtney holds a bachelors degree in management from the Georgia Institute of Technology and is a LEED AP Homes.
