My background is in engineering, arts, and sustainability. I spent several years working in the environmental non-profit sector as an educator and researcher, as well as designer and builder of interactive science museum exhibits on the topics of climate change, energy conservation, and renewable energy.
I've co-founded two non-profits that focus on creativity and collaboration: the Vancouver Design Nerds (VDN), and the Open Green Building Society (OGBS). VDN is a network of collaborating designers and artists who share a desire to engage design opportunities with a spirit of creative play and to challenge the normative environment of the city. OGBS is dedicated to creating freely available, open-source green building tools and resources, such as the Green Building Brain project.
I'm also the co-founder and Director of The HiVE, a sustainability-focused collaborative workspace.
Creativity and sustainability are driving forces in my life. I currently earn a living as a green building expert and Principal of Recollective, a multi-disciplinary green building consulting firm. I'm very active in the green building community and have served on several boards and committees, including being the former Chair of the Vancouver Branch of the Cascadia Region Green Building Council, and a past board member of Cascadia’s Board of Directors.
