As a technical building consultant, Emily Vella works to ensure builders and subcontractors are meeting the requirements of the Earth Advantage and ENERGY STAR standards by performing home inspections and providing on-site education. She is a certified ENERGY STAR verifier and is currently in the process of completing the mentorship phase of the LEED Green Rater certification. Emily’s previous work experience is in mechanical engineering. She began her career designing diesel engines at Caterpillar, Inc. In 2008, she moved to Clean Air Engineering, where she started out as a field engineer performing air emissions testing and later assumed the responsibility of designing test equipment. Emily is a certified BPI Building Analyst and Envelope Professional (BPI ID#5040007). She is also certified in
PTCS duct sealing and heat pump commissioning (PTCS ID#10400). She has a
master’s degree in environmental management and sustainability from
Illinois Institute of Technology and a bachelor of science in mechanical
engineering from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology).
