Hello world

Gary Jay Saulson is executive vice president and director of Corporate Real Estate for The PNC Financial Services Group where he leads PNC’s Realty Services business unit. Saulson oversees all of PNC’s real estate (approx. 30 million square feet), including property management, construction, occupancy ownership strategies, leasing, and transactions. Saulson is also responsible for leading PNC's environmental strategy that has resulted in PNC having more newly constructed buildings certified by the US Green Building Council (USGBC) than any other company in the world. Major construction projects led by Saulson that have achieved the USGBC’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) certification include: • PNC Firstside Center, Pittsburgh: At nearly 650,000 square feet, this operations facility opened in 2000 as the world’s largest LEED certified building and first certified under LEED v2.0. • Green Branch® Locations: PNC became the first major US bank to apply green building standards to all newly constructed or renovated retail offices in 2002, achieved the first prototype certified under the LEED Volume program in 2004, and celebrated its 100th LEED certified Green Branch in 2010. In 2007, PNC was awarded the registered trademark for the term Green Branch, an affirmation of the company’s leadership in sustainable business practices. • Three PNC Plaza, Pittsburgh: This mixed-use, green building – featuring office space, Fairmont Pittsburgh hotel, condominiums and retail – has played a key role in revitalizing the city’s core and earned LEED Gold certification. • PNC Place, Washington, DC: Located a few blocks from the White House, this 12-story trophy office building with a 15,500 sf green roof achieved LEED Platinum certification. He is a frequent speaker on green buildings, and was instrumental in promoting the LEED Volume certification program. He is the recipient of the USGBC Leadership Award (2006) and the Green Building Alliance’s Shades of Green Leadership Award (2005). Before joining PNC in 1990 as a manager of PNC Realty Holding Corp's OREO department, Saulson served as a principal of a real estate development and investment company in Phoenix and in other real estate-related positions. Saulson serves on the board of directors of the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust Real Estate Advisory Committee and Mascaro Center for Sustainable Innovation at the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a member of the USGBC and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Saulson is a graduate of the George Washington University, Washington D.C.
