Gerrit Reinders is Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Telkonet, Inc. Someone once called him a “Tree-Hugging Capitalist”, a label he has worn since with pride. He is at his best when developing strategies and programs that create superior Economic, Environmental and Social value.

Did you know non-residential living spaces in the US waste incredible amounts of energy because they are not occupied most of the time, yet are kept heated, cooled and lit as though they were? Hotel rooms, student housing, military housing, public housing, nursing homes and other similar spaces are prime targets for energy savings. Most are vacant as much as 70% of the day and Gerrit’s leadership at Telkonet drives the ideal technology solutions that eliminate energy waste from spaces with intermittent occupancy without compromising comfort– with typical ROI of 32%.

Prior to joining Telkonet, he was the Vice President of Sales at Energy Focus, an LED lighting manufacturer where he helped triple sales to over $35 million. Before that he was Director of Global Energy and Sustainability Programs at Johnson Controls, where with Paul Von Paumgartten he developed and implemented the “Path to Sustainability” - a process to achieve green real-estate portfolios and fund the improvements thru reductions in energy, water, and waste. This approach leads to LEED certified buildings with engaged, motivated and comfortable occupants.

He has lived in Holland, England, Peru and Costa Rica for a combined 21 years, and is considered fluent in English, Dutch, and Spanish with conversational skills in a few other languages. He has a BSME Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management. He also serves on the Milwaukee Area Technical College Advisory Committee.
