Ms. Marquard has worked as an architect, designer, and project manager for large firms in the Detroit area before starting her own architectural design and LEED consulting firm, later relocating to California. She has worked on a variety of projects, from the very small ($10,000 or less in fees) to the very large (over $14 million in fees). Her work has ranged from industrial, commercial, and research facilities to health care, performance centers, and educational buildings and has covered scopes from interior fit-out of a small office area to individual multi-story buildings to multi-buildings campus complexes.
Ms. Marquard was selected as USGBC Faculty in the summer of 2002, and has been helping educate other professionals about sustainability, green building, and the LEED Rating Systems ever since. In her travels she has taught over 1,100 professionals at several Greenbuild events, plus in 25 states, 2 US territories, her nation’s capital, and most recently online to an international class. She most recently served on a local LEED experts panel (representing CI) and presented on the intersection of LEED and building aesthetics.
She has published case studies in professional magazines for manufacturers, real estate professionals, and urban planners. She is a Certified Toastmaster and has been guest lecturer for local construction programs at community colleges and interior design programs at a national online university, as well as a frequent presenter for government workshops including those for DOD, EPA, GSA, and HUD.
She was a member of USGBC’s Faculty Advisory Panel, an item and form reviewer for GBCI’s Green Associate exam, as well as founding member of the USGBC Detroit Chapter. She currently serves as a reviewer for USGBC’s Education Provider Program, member of USGBC’s Keystone Network for stakeholder research, and on her local USGBC Chapter’s 2012 Regionalization committee in addition to serving on her local AIA Chapter Board of Directors, Committee on the Environment, and as newsletter editor. She is a member of a local municipality’s Design Review Board, of which she is past-chair, and has been appointed to her county’s Commission on the Status of Women.
