Isilay Civan, MSc, Ph.D.s, LEED AP O+M, SFP, GGP, GPCP is a Research &
Strategic Innovation Specialist with HOK's Consulting Group, where she is responsible
for research-based intelligence, real estate development and repositioning strategies, facility management, and life-cycle/sustainability consulting, as well as business development and group-wide marketing.
Civan holds a doctorate in real estate development, with a minor in business, from Texas A&M University, and a second doctorate in facility management, a masters degree in construction project management, and a bachelors degree in architecture from Istanbul Technical University in Istanbul, Turkey; covering the entire life-cycle of built environments. She is a registered architect in Turkey and a LEED Accredited Professional with an Operations and Maintenance specialty. Dr. Civan is a published author of two books and numerous articles and has more than 15 years of international project experience in architectural design, construction project management, facility management
and real estate development for corporate, institutional, governmental and public sector clients.
Currently serving on the IFMA Research and Sustainability Committees and EDRA CORE Committee, Dr. Civan also sits on the Editorial Board for IFMA’s Sustainability “How-to Guides” and was one of the subject matter experts for IFMA’s "Sustainability Facility Professional - SFP" credential. She served a two year-term on the IFMA Board of Directors from 2010 - 2012 and chaired the IFMA Research Committee and Global FM International Workshop Taskforce during that time. She is also an active member of USGBC and has been a GBCI Education Provider Program Reviewer and Auditor since 2009 (and a Pro Reviewer since 2014).
