Joël Courchesne, Registered Senior Architect, LEED AP BD+C & O+M
Joël Courchesne has been a registered architect since 1991 and a LEED AP since 2002. His formal architectural training was done at Université Laval where he earned his bachelor degree in architecture. He went on to work in Toronto, Canada where he gained experience in commercial, multi-residential and Healthcare projects. His work with HOK Canada enabled him to design projects throughout Canada, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain, among other places. He resides in Montréal, (Québec) Canada and is involved with professional education groups in France where he is promoting LEED through training with the help of the USGBC and the GEPA (France training organisation). His implication with the USGBC and GBCI has earned him to be the first and only USGBC Faculty in France.
His involvement in the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC) dates to its origins with the LEED Steering Committee and the creation of the Quebec Chapter of the CaGBC in 2005. This affiliation with the CaGBC has allowed him to acquire a broad knowledge of sustainable design. He was Director (assigned seat) of the CaGBC from 2008-2009 and has been on numerous committees within the CaGBC. He also now is involved with the USGBC Market Advisory Committee. He's a founding director of the Quebec Chapter of the CaGBC, as well as past president. He specializes in LEED certification, Integrated design process, and Sustainable design.
He works as an architect and specialist in sustainable design and thrives on developing partnerships with other professionals and organisations. His work encompasses many roles, from authoring reports, to conducting market research, to project management and team leadership for architectural projects.
