John is currently the Associate Vice President of Facility Services at Northern Arizona University. John retired as the Director of Facilities Operations at the University of Colorado Boulder in 2012. Prior to May 2005 he served in a number of capacities during his 27 years with the Colorado State University Facilities Management Department. He is a registered Professional Engineer, a Certified Energy Manager, a Certified Facilities Manager, a Certified Plant Engineer, a LEED Accredited Professional, a certified Green Building Engineer, and a Certified Educational Facilities Professional.
John is an active participate with APPA and Rocky Mountain APPA (RMA). He is a past APPA Senior Senior Rep and a past RMA president. He is currently a member of the APPA Credentialing Board, the RMA Board Historian, and the RMA 14ers Club Lead Climber. He was awarded the APPA President’s Award in 2012 along with other members of the APPA Regional Relationship Task Force, the APPA Meritorious Service Award in 2011, the APPA Pacesetter Award in 2006, and the RMA President’s Award in 2007 and 2008. In 2012, under John’s leadership the Facilities Operations Department at the University of Colorado Boulder received the prestigious APPA Award for Excellence. John has also served on several APPA FMEP (Facilities Management Evaluation Program) teams.
