I enjoy encouraging more environmentally sound building practices through my work at MaGrann Associates. I facilitate new construction and gut rehab project certification in LEED for Homes, LEED for Homes Mid-Rise, Energy Star Homes and Energy Star Multifamily High-rise, as well as the National Green Building Standard, from Home Innovation research Labs (formerly NAHB-Research). After 8 years managing & directing a summer program for teenagers, I dove in to the green building component of my last job and now it is my primary focus. I relish demystifying complex concepts and intimidating processes to aid professionals in building and operating higher performance buildings.
Volunteer work with DVGBC enables me to engage with greening other market sectors of the building design, construction & operation. I push for cross pollination, advocating the fastest market adoption of green practices that the development community can bear.
Facilitation is a skill I learned with teenagers and young adults and have translated to my work with seasoned construction professionals. Offering teams a space into which they can pour their ideas, challenge each other and develop creative solutions to the problems we face is a joy. I believe that implementing a truly integrated process is an area where our professional community has tremendous untapped potential. I also assist MaGrann's Existing Multifamily Energy Audit group which analyzes large buildings to identify and design cost effective energy efficient upgrades for the owners and their utilities. The green team at MaGrann is currently working on Paseo Verde in Philadelphia, a LEED ND & Homes rated, good looking, mixed-use, mixed income TOD; we are doing what we can to make sure it comes out meeting the owner’s expectations.
Currently holding the following certifications: USGBC Faculty, BPI Multi-family Building Analyst, USGBC Accredited Green Rater, LEED®AP HOMES, Green Communities Charrette Facilitator, NAHB Green Verifier, RESNET Certified HERS Rater. I’m a member of the USGBC’s LEED Technical Committee, as well as the Philadelphia Steering Committee and the Greenbuild Host Committee of the DVGBC, and a former co-chair of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council’s Residential Circle and member of the Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity – Perry County.
