Jonathan Burgess is a LEED Project Manager at The Spinnaker Group, a premier green-building consulting firm based in South Florida. His firm has helped inform the design of over 60 LEED certified projects and is currently involved in more than 200 LEED projects pursuing certification worldwide.
Jonathan's professional experience includes site design, master planning, land entitlement and project management for major mixed-use developments both locally and internationally. He has been responsible for taking projects from conceptual planning and design through construction documentation, permitting, and construction administration. He has worked on a wide variety of project scopes; from small-scale domestic commercial properties (1-5 acres) to large-scale international mixed-use developments (100-4,000 hectares). He works closely with architects, planners, landscape architects, engineers, surveyors, biologists, ecologists, and contractors on a regular basis.
Jonathan was also the 1st person in South Florida to have achieved the LEED for Neighborhood Development specialty accreditation. His background in planning, coupled with his experience in green building design and construction, helps project teams navigate through the complex LEED certification process while staying on time and on budget.
In addition to serving as Chair of the USGBC Florida-Caribbean Region, Jonathan also serves on the LEED Location and Transportation Technical Advisory Group and in several capacities with his local South Florida Chapter.
