Kristen Magnuson

  • AP-Homes Certified
San Francisco, CA

Several years of working as a healthcare interior designer in architecture
firms around the country led Kristen to shift gears into a sustainability and
health-focused consulting role where she is now able to have greater
influence on key decisions that impact what she thinks are the truest
indicators of
project success: how it impacts human body systems and human spirit as well
as the burden in puts on the environment to operate.
With a strong belief that every building should have an undeniable connection
to the outdoors, minimal environmental impact, and maximum health benefits,
Kristen helps project teams uncover, articulate and achieve aggressive health
and sustainability goals.
As one of stok’s leaders in healthy spaces, Kristen has been involved in
the IWBI’s new WELL Building Standard since its launch in her hometown of
New Orleans in 2014 and attended the first WELL Building training seminar at
the Wellness Institute at Cleveland Clinic. Kristen is now involved in
promoting and expanding this emerging standard, as well as collaborating with
institutions and organizations that are pushing the limits of what it means
to be a healthy building.
Kristen also has a unique ability for graphic communication, storytelling,
and turning complex data into easily understood visuals to help stakeholders
visualize goals or make decisions based on the visualized data.
At stok, Kristen wears many hats, contributing to a wide variety of high
performance building projects as well as directing company-wide visual
content. Kristen has worked in all core areas of the company, lending to a
comprehensive understanding of whole building systems. She has advised global
commercial clients on sustainable initiatives such as Net Zero Energy;
passive design; waste, water, and energy reduction; and daylighting
optimization. Currently, she works closely with stok’s energy services and
material health teams to promote health, beauty, and efficiency in all
projects she’s involved with.
