Lane Burt is the Policy Director at the U.S. Green Building Council, where he
leads USGBC’s strategic policy work at the state, local, and federal level.
A licensed Professional Engineer, Lane has been closely engaged with decision
makers in Congress and federal agencies on all aspects of building policy,
including incentives, building codes, and appliance standards.
Before coming to USGBC, Lane led the Natural Resource Defense Council’s
work on buildings and appliances at the federal level. Lane holds Master’s
and Bachelor’s degrees in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Florida and North Carolina State University, respectively.
Lane has served as a member of the LEED Energy and Water TAG and worked as a
mechanical engineer and energy modeler of high performance buildings in
