Lewis Durland

Lew Durland is a licensed Professional Engineer, a Certified Energy Manager,
and a LEED AP BD+C, with 30 years experience in the energy and sustainable
design profession. Mr. Durland's professional focus is on high performance
design using the integrated design process and energy performance. He currently serves as an Advisor to the USGBC New York Upstate Chapter Board of Directors, and served previously as a Board Director, Board Vice Chair, and Program & Education Committee
Chair. As Ithaca Energy Commission Chair, Lew received the NYS Governor’s and USDOE Awards for Energy Innovation for co-authoring energy efficiency legislation. A recent
ASHRAE Chapter President, Treasurer, and Professional Development Symposium
Chair, Lew received the 2006 ASHRAE Region I (Northeast US) Outstanding
Achievement Award for Programs. He’s a Greenbuild program reviewer,
presents on energy conservation, green buildings, mechanical systems and the
LEED rating system for the Chapter, as well as for professional and civic
organizations. Mr. Durland is a graduate of Cornell University. He’s a
member of Sustainable Tompkins, the Association of Energy Engineers, and the
American Solar Energy Society, and is a Charter Member of the (Tompkins
County) Sustainable Enterprise and Entrepreneur Network.
