Lynn Simon, FAIA, LEED Fellow, has more than 20 years of experience in the green building industry. She joined Thornton Tomasetti in 2012, after 18 years leading Simon & Associates, Inc., a green building consulting firm she founded in 1994. Prior experience includes positions with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and Global Green USA, a nonprofit dedicated to greening affordable housing. As a Senior Vice President, Lynn is responsible for leading the firm’s west coast building sustainability practice, providing strategic guidance nationally, and for facilitating and managing complex projects.
Lynn is a green building pioneer and a leading authority in the industry. She has consulted on hundreds of LEED projects and has become one of the leading subject matter experts on LEEDv4. She has served on a number of USGBC committees and on the Board of Directors of several building industry organizations, including the AIA San Francisco Chapter Board, the National AIA Board and the USGBC Board, and is currently serving on both the LEED and Education Steering Committees.
Lynn is the recipient of the USGBC's 2011 President's Leadership Award, and the 2003 AIACC Presidential Citation Public Service Honor Award. Lynn was also named of 25 Environmental Champions by EnvironDesign Journal in 2005. Lynn holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of California, Berkeley and a master’s degree in architecture from the University of Washington.
