Marcus B. Sheffer is an energy/environmental consultant with over 30 years
of green building experience. His company, Energy Opportunities, Inc. (EO)
provides technical consulting services on projects relating to energy
management, efficiency and conservation; renewable energy systems, and the
environmental impacts of human enterprises. EO operated the York County
Community Foundation Energy Program providing technical and financial
assistance to local nonprofit organizations for 20 years. Marcus is also a partner in
7group, a multi-disciplinary team of professionals focused on integrative
design and regenerative development. He is an accredited LEED Fellow and LEED Certification Project Reviewer.
Volunteer activities have included leadership positions with the USGBC
(current member of the LEED Advisory Committee , previously served on
the LEED Steering Committee, LEED Market Advisory Committee, LEED Technical Committee and as Chair of the Energy & Atmosphere Technical Advisory Group) and the Green Building Association of Central PA (Founding Board Chair). Prior to forming Energy Opportunities in 1993, he was employed by the Pennsylvania Energy Office.
Sheffer earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies in 1981 and
a Master of Science degree in Public Administration in 1986, both from
Shippensburg University. He lives with his wife of 31 years on a small farm
in Pennsylvania raising sheep, hay and daughters.
