Hello world

Mary graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters of Engineering,
specializing in Environmental Engineering and with additional background in
Urban and Regional Planning and Process Engineering. After working in Water
and Wastewater for Gainesville Regional Utilities, she moved to Progress
Energy as an Environmental Analyst, then in Power Plant Operations
Management, and finally in Power Plant Construction, managing environmental
compliance.

Observing first hand the environmental cost of energy production led to a
career change to energy optimization and sustainable building practices.
Working with business partner Architect Jennifer Langford, she formed The
Sustainable Design Group in 2007, with the philosophy that engineers and
architects working together can create the optimal product: a beautiful and
efficient building design that works well. In addition, synergy between the
design and engineering of the building saves the client money - both in the
upfront design costs as well as in the on-going operation of the building. In
addition to providing these services, Mary is a project manager, provides
root cause analysis and environmental consulting.

Other endeavors include Barrels of Hope, an effort to supply housing to earthquake survivors in Haiti (www.barrelsofhope.org) and RabbleHousers, a startup that will provide a collaborative build of 100 600 sq ft homes across the southeast US.
