Matthew Gray

Matt Gray serves as Director in the Mayor's Office of Sustainability for the City of Cleveland. This position follows completion of a U.S. Fulbright Fellowship in Mauritius, where he researched climate change impacts and adaptation governance. Prior to receiving this grant, he served four years with the US Department of Energy's (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program, the first two years as a Presidential Management Fellow. At DOE he worked largely on green building and climate change, serving as Chair of the Interagency Sustainability Working Group to make green building standard practice throughout the Federal government. He led development of the Guidance on Federal Greenhouse Gas Accounting and Reporting, a document released by the White House Council on Environmental Quality to establish Government-wide requirements for measuring and reporting greenhouse gas emissions associated with Federal agency operations.

Prior to joining DOE, Matt worked in energy management consulting, ecological
water purification and for conservation organizations. He has bachelor
degrees in Industrial Engineering and Anthropology from the University of
Pittsburgh and a Masters in Public Administration in Environmental Science
and Policy from Columbia University.
