After studying Environmental Management & Policy in Agricultural & Applied Economics at Virginia Tech & Purdue University, Maureen worked in regulation providing environmental compliance and enforcement services at the state level. Following earning a USDA National Needs Fellowship for the Economics & Management of Water Resources & the Environment with Kansas State University, Maureen moved to the Kyrgyz Republic in 2012 to work on her dissertation while teaching courses in Economic Development as an Assistant Professor at the American University of Central Asia. While working on her research and teaching, Maureen realized the need for environmental leadership in the Kyrgyz Republic and is now managing related projects as the Programs Director for the Meken Madaniyaty Public Foundation.
