Mohammad Tassi (BME, MEM, LEED AP, CxA, USGBC Faculty) is among the
well-known professionals in Lebanon and the Middle East Region on
sustainability and the LEED Green Building Rating System. In 2007, he was the
first professional in Lebanon and among the first seven in the Middle East to
become a LEED Accredited Professional. He has had extensive experience in
working on many LEED and Green projects both in Lebanon and the Middle East
In addition, Mohammad is:
- USGBC Faculty (among the first eight (8) non-US international
- ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer (ASHRAE DL) 2012-14
- Certified Commissioning Authority (CxA)
- LEED AP BD+C , and LEED AP
- International LEED Advisor
- Approved Lecturer in the "Master of Applied Energy" graduate engineering
program at the American University of Beirut (AUB)
He has a Master’s degree in Engineering Management and a Bachelor’s
degree in Mechanical Engineering, both from the American University of Beirut
He has honed his knowledge through more than 18-years of vast experience in
various sustainability consultancies, education, and field application
In his current position as Director of Facilities Management at KAPSARC (King
Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center in Riyadh, KSA), and in his
previous position as Senior Project Manager at the American University of
Beirut, he has been handling various leadership roles in sustainability and
LEED certification domains as well as in Project Management,
infrastructure-utilities, and Facilities Management. He was named as the
“Green Guy” at AUB (in 2008).
Mohammad is an active member of many professional organizations;
- He served as a President, a Chair of CTTC and a BOG member of the Lebanese
ASHRAE Chapter; currently, he is the chair of CTTC at ASHRAE Saudi Chapter.
- He is an Advisory Board member of the Pro-Green Diploma program.
- He is a member of the Order of Engineers & Architects Beirut, Saudi Council
of Engineers, the US Green Building Council, Lebanon Green Building Council,
AABC Commissioning Group, WAAUB, ASHRAE, and IFMA.
Mohammad co-chaired the USGBC International Summit Work Group (ISWG) _2011,
and served as a reviewer and as a member in many other USGBC committees
Moreover, Mohammad has had wide participation in various international
sustainability conferences and professional training workshops. He conducted
a big number of public seminars, customized-training programs, and
student-education activities both in Lebanon and the Middle East mainly on
the Sustainability and LEED certification field.
Furthermore, he has represented officially the country of Lebanon and the Order
of Engineers and Architect_ Beirut in many regional and international
Mohammad is an approved LEED Trainer/ Lecturer for USGBC, AMIDEAST
(American-Mideast Educational and Training Services, Inc.), AUB, and the
Order of Engineers_ Beirut.
As USGBC Faculty, Mohammad is authorized to teach the following USGBC LEED
- LEED 101
- LEED 201
- BDC 251, and
- BDC 301
