Paul Marmion is a professional engineer, specializing in integrated/ sustainable design solutions for complex buildings. Paul is a Senior Principal and a leader of Stantec’s Healthcare Research and Innovation group. He was involved in the writing the National Energy Code of Canada and the ASHRAE Advanced IAQ Guide and is a past director of the Canadian Green Build Council. He is presently working on a number of healthcare projects as well as being actively involved in collaborative research into integrated design solutions for “emerging best practice” hospitals.
2006 to 2010 Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, Abbotsford, British Columbia 350 bed, green field Acute Care hospital and Cancer Treatment facility (Engineer of Record HVAC). First LEED Gold Certified Acute Care project in Canada.
2005 to 2010 Greater Vancouver Water Filtration Facility, providing drinking water to over 2.2 million people. The facility also includes geothermal heat recovery system to extract heat out of the clear-well water for heating the facility. LEED registered project, targeting LEED Gold (Sustainable design/ LEED Coordinator). River Street Water Treatment Plant; LEED Gold Certified. The project is a "state of the art" membrane filtration plant with energy recovery systems (Sustainable design/ LEED Coordinator).
2005 to 2009 Children's & Women's Health Centre of BC Adolescent Mental health Care Building, Vancouver, British Columbia (Engineer of Record HVAC). LEED project, targeting LEED Silver. Decoupled mixed mode ventilation system with displacement ventilation and radiant heating and cooling. Heritage conversion project.
2002 to 2010 Children's & Women's Health Centre of BC, Research Facility, CFRI, CMMT, BCRI, Transgenic Vancouver, British Columbia (Engineer of Record HVAC). Power Smart design and CBIP High Performance project. First VAV manifolded fume hood/ laboratory exhaust system with energy recovery in Canada.
