Rick is the Senior Vice President in LHB’s Minneapolis office where his primary responsibilities include business development, project leadership, and sustainable design on major projects. He has 23 years of experience with LHB, five years with a Washington, D.C. architecture firm and he specializes in sustainable design.

Rick works extensively on issues of sustainable design by promoting improved indoor air quality, energy efficiency, and resource efficiency. Rick co-founded LHB’s Green Team in 1992, a multi-discipline team dedicated to incorporating sustainable design techniques into all projects. He helped develop the Hennepin County/Minnesota Sustainable Design Guidelines and currently manages the Buildings, Benchmarks and Beyond (B3) Project including execution of sustainable guidelines for the State of Minnesota.

Rick is an adjunct faculty member and teaches a graduate-level sustainable design course at the University of Minnesota’s College of Design in the Master of Science in Sustainable Design Program. Rick was a member of the Minnesota Climate Change Advisory Group and a co-chair for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Mayor’s Green Manufacturing Initiative.
