Sara Greenwood

Ms. Greenwood is a sustainability consultant with over 14 years of experience. Her expertise and insight into emerging green building practices and technologies provide a unique perspective for clients pursuing green building certification and sustainable business initiatives. Her demonstrated experience in sustainable program development and management helps to guide project teams through the green building planning, documentation, and certification processes. Ms. Greenwood has managed projects ranging in building type including multifamily residential, commercial offices, retail, higher education facilities, hotel, industrial, and government buildings. She has supported USGBC National to inform updates to the past two versions of the LEED rating system, participated on the Steering Committee, served as one of a few LEED project reviewers for the Green Building Certification Institute and serves on the board of her local Chapter in Kansas City. She also has demonstrated experience with other green building certification programs including Green Globes, ENERGY STAR, NAHB and the Collaborative for High Performance Schools. Presenting on green building trends and identifying the best fit rating system for specific building types is also well defined in her qualifications. Ms. Greenwood has also provided climate consulting services to clients in the corporate, institutional, and municipal sectors by engaging in a comprehensive greenhouse gas (GHG) inventory to develop a roadmap toward emissions reductions and climate commitment goals. Her experience assisting cities with climate action plans and energy efficiency and conservation strategies has put Ms. Greenwood at the forefront of implementing federal and state legislation. She has helped manage several critical research programs under the California Energy Commission to inform updates to the State Building Energy Code (Title 24) and related public interests. She has also responded to the Carbon Disclosure Project for Fortune 500 companies, and the ACUPCC for higher education institutions. Today Ms. Greenwood also advises the Kansas City, City Energy Project stakeholders.
