Hello world

Valerie holds a Texas architectural license and has extensive experience in green residential remodels and education. Her green building journey began in 2000 as project manager for a Portland Oregon non-profit housing developer. In her work, Valerie combines her interest and experience in residential design, art, old structures, community outreach, aging-in-place, research and writing. As a green building specialist, she coordinated the annual City of Portland Build it Green! Home Tour for four years until 2011 and provided green building technical assistance for the Portland Metro Region until 2013. She recently purchased and rehabbed a 1911 southeast Portland bungalow and is designing an accessible Universal Design backyard cottage on a second property. Favorite architectural influences include Antonio Gaudi, Charles Rennie Macintosh, Louis Kahn, Le Corbusier's Ronchamp, Rural Studio and the Tiny House Movement. Valerie also does on site aging-in-place consultations.

Valerie volunteers her time with her neighborhood, Oregon Tradeswomen, Inc., Habitat for Humanity Portland ReStore, Friends of Lone Fir Cemetery, House of Dreams Kitty Shelter and the Southeast Portland Tool Library.
