Bill Carson joined the U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation in 2014 to launch infUSe – a holistic approach to investing financial and technical resources for social impact in community-scale revitalization.
In his prior roles as VP of Sustainability of the McCormack Baron Salazar (MBS) Companies and President of MBS Affiliate Sunwheel Energy + Sustainability, he led MBS to become one of the top developers and managers of green, economically integrated, urban communities. He was directly involved in the development and certification of 2,100 green homes, a LEED Platinum School, two LEED Neighborhood Developments, eight Enterprise Green Communities, and more than one-thousand Energy Star Certified homes. During his tenure, MBS was awarded $35 million in HUD CFRC Green Communities Grants, was named a “Hero of the Planet” by the St. Louis Business Journal and received top-honors in the St. Louis Green Business Challenge two years running.
Mr. Carson is a LEED-AP BD+C and Cornell Engineering grad and holds Washington University master’s degrees in Engineering & Policy and Engineering Management. He is passionate about using integrated sustainability strategies to reduce environmental impact, improve resident well-being and advance economic outcomes in distressed communities. He is a National Board Member of USGBC’s organizational partner EcoDistricts, which is devoted to a new model of urban regeneration and community development rooted in a relentless commitment to authentic collaboration and social, economic and ecological innovation.
