William Dowie, has been an environmental management consultant /
sustainability professional since 1993. William completed his BA in Applied
Economics / Applied Mathematics at the University of Manitoba, and continues

Architecture, and Environment.

He holds an Applied Management Certificate for non-profit organizations, a Masters Certificate in Project Management, and is a LEED Accredited Professional specializing in Operations and Maintenance. As a self-employed entrepreneur, William is a member of the Winnipeg Chamber of Commerce. His work has recently concentrated on working with CN Rail and Johnson Controls towards HVAC modernization and IAQ measures at the Transcona Car Shops (100+ year old buildings).

William is a Master Gardener, and also holds a Certificate in Permaculture Design. Wm consistently practices ecological design principles. A self-declared naturalist, his family property is a demonstration landscape: it has five certifications in naturalization and biodiversity, and has been featured on local garden tours and on CBC radio. Wm has been a contributing writer to the Winnipeg Free Press gardening column and The Prairie Garden. He was an Instructor in arboriculture at the University of Manitoba from 2013-2015, concurrently earning his Certificate in Adult and Continuing Education.

His pro bono volunteer work led him to be apolitical citizen member of the Mayor's Environmental Advisory Committee, and the past-Chair for the City of Winnipeg Museums Board. He is a Board Member with Gardens Manitoba, and is the Chair and President of the Green Action Centre.

Working with homeowners, industry, and government, Bill concentrates on
helping people become environmentally responsible using pollution prevention
tools; this helps save money, resources, and moves people towards
sustainability at work, rest, and play.
