LEED ID+C: Commercial Interiors v2009
Energy Systems Design Office
Scottsdale, AZ 85251
LEED Platinum 2011
Existing buildings with average energy performance can be transformed into the most technologically advanced interior environments. There is nothing better than real data and dollars to explain to others how they can modify their buildings to make a difference.
Energy Systems Design was built on the second floor of an existing building in downtown Scottsdale, Ariz. It is the 10,630 square foot home to a team of mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineers who focus on energy efficient design. When the design began in summer 2010, the project team sought to prove that existing buildings with average energy performance could be transformed into the most technologically advanced interior environments. By using the newest lighting systems and controls, HVAC equipment and controls, and plumbing equipment and fixtures, ESD was able to showcase its expertise in efficient building systems design, and serve as a teaching tool for the industry and community. The project was completed in less than three months, and was awarded 90 out of 92 possible points.
