From the get-go, it was the strong desire of owners Mario and Annemarie Delicio, as well as the dedicated project team, to build a hotel that would lead the way for other new and existing hotels to be built and operated in a far more sustainable and energy efficient manner.

Hotel Verde is a four star hotel located 400m from Cape Town International Airport. Offering an unparalleled experience, Hotel Verde is one of the only hotels in the world where sustainability, luxury and convenience go hand in hand. Complemented by the passionate and friendly staff, Hotel Verde provides guests with every accommodation & conferencing need, making the hotel the perfect place for tourists & locals alike.

Home to 145 rooms and 7 conference venues, the hotel attempts to uphold the status of being Africa’s greenest hotel by keeping sustainability as its heartbeat. From the get-go, it was the strong desire of owners Mario and Annemarie Delicio, as well as the dedicated project team, to build a hotel that would lead the way for other new and existing hotels to be built and operated in a far more sustainable and energy efficient manner. As a result, the hotel was not only designed from below the ground up to be as ecological as possible, but the hotel also drives this concept through daily operational practices and decisions including that of waste management, the procurement chain and staff training. This also led to the decision to ensure all accommodation and conferencing is 100% carbon neutral and that guests do not have to pay a premium to offset the carbon of their stay.

Some of the world-class technical installations that can be found at Hotel Verde are: 3 vertical axis wind turbines, photovoltaic panels,  a grey water recycling system- alongside other water saving features, an intelligent building management system, regenerative drive elevators, motion-sensor and daylight controlled light fixtures and power generating gym equipment. These installations, among others have aided the hotel in being 70% more efficient than a standard Cape Town hotel with an impressive renewable energy generation projection of 10% of total consumption.

The design and construction philosophy focused on those sustainable interventions that would represent the ‘low hanging fruit’ and yield the highest return on investment. Efficiency of resource consumption was another big drive and together with the mantra of “as sustainable as possible” resulted in Africa’s first LEED Platinum certified New Construction building.

During their stay, guests can expect to make use of free secure parking, complimentary uncapped Wi-Fi, the 24-hour deli, hotel shuttles & the power-generating gym equipment. All whilst enjoying the natural beauty of the restored wetland, eco pool & jogging trail on the premises. With a modern bar & restaurant, serving food & drink sourced responsibly no more than 160km from the hotel, a delicious & relaxing meal is an easy find. Breakfast is served starting at 4.30am, in time for our guests to catch an early flight. Guests are also encouraged to take part in the guest-incentives program whereby guests will be rewarded for making their stay as ‘green’ as possible.
