LEED Gold 2013

Emphasis was placed on daylighting, including skylights integrated into the roofing system and exterior window sizing and placement. Extensive consideration was also given to the room configurations to enhance daylighting.

This single-story, 14,000 SF building houses Security Forces functions for the Oregon Air National Guard (ANG) at the Klamath Falls Armed Forces Reserve Center at Kingsley Field, Oregon.  The Phase I, Gold Certified facility was designed and constructed to achieve a 25-year useful design life.

Emphasis was placed on daylighting, including skylights integrated into the roofing system and exterior window sizing and placement. Extensive consideration was also given to the room configurations to enhance daylighting.  Open work areas, joint use rooms, and sub-dividable rooms are provided to maximize the Government’s flexibility for the use of this facility.

Site development, exterior building materials, and interior finish materials reflect compliance with Kingsley Field Base Construction Standards, AT/FP standards, LEED® requirements, Buy American Act requirements, as well as the building materials’ abilities to enhance the overall aesthetics and working environment of building occupants. The overall design provides a functional, quality, visually appealing facility that promotes the health, safety, and welfare of the occupants.

The facility is a multi-functional building with several specialty spaces.  The Security Forces functions include:  command, administrative, Base Defense Operations Center, pass and ID stations, law enforcement, arms storage, training rooms, mobility storage areas, a mobility pallet build-up area, and locker rooms for the 173rd Security Forces Squadron.

The facility also complies with the mission critical requirements of not exceeding 14,000 SF, minimum of LEED® Silver certification, compliance with Energy Policy Act (EPACT) of 2005 and Department of Defense Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection (AT/FP) standards.  Phase I was also specifically designed for joint use and the future expansion of the facility for the Phase II Army National Guard program.
