Early in 2010, the City Council confirmed a 21-member Task Force with the mission of drafting guidelines and development regulations that will be used to evaluate mixed use or residential projects on sites near and including the Pleasanton/Dublin BART station. The idea of creating a lively, pedestrian-oriented, mixed use development with additional housing near BART in the Hacienda business park is embodied in Pleasanton’s new General Plan and is seen as consistent with the Plan’s sustainable development theme. In addition, three owners of property close to the BART station expressed interest in the potential for residential or mixed use development, rather than building the office/R&D development which was already entitled.
