Hi,

I am planning to write both the LEED Green Associate and the LEED AP BD+C this year, but separately. I would like to purchase the study materials that would be the most cost-effective given these goals. Can you make a recommendation? Would purchasing the LEED AP BD+C study materials only be best for also studying for the LEED Green Associate exam?

Thanks

Green Building Specialist, LEED AP Homes, LEED for Homes Green Rater, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Sally, thank you for your interest in earning your LEED Green Associate and LEED AP BD+C credentials. LEED AP BD+C study materials will certainly help you prepare for the LEED Green Associate exam. However, the LEED Green Associate exam covers more content than just the LEED BD+C rating system, such as LEED Green Associate tasks, LEED processes and credit categories, other LEED rating systems, and critical points on green building. Please refer to the LEED Green Associate handbook (http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-green-associate-candidate-handbook) for a general description of exam content areas for the LEED Green Associate exam. Since each candidate seeking a LEED credentials has a unique combination of knowledge and experience, it is difficult to recommend the definitive study materials one would need to pass either exam. A great place to start is with the LEED Green Associates Candidate Handbook http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-green-associate-candidate-handbook. The references listed in the Handbook are free and available online, with the exception of the LEED Core Concepts Guide, which is a very popular resource for people preparing for the LEED Green Associate exam. Since the primary sources for the development of the LEED Professional Exams are the LEED Rating Systems, including the LEED BD+C rating system, a detailed understanding of these are necessary for success. After these resources have been explored and studied, most candidates seek the structure of study guides (found here http://www.usgbc.org/store/products/publications), online or in-person courses (found here http://www.usgbc.org/education-at-usgbc/listing/study) and practice exams to further their understanding of the information. Others may start with a course or study guide and explore the resources in detail after. There are many paths to success for these exams, but I hope this offers a direction for you to start.

Hi,
I have few questions regarding specific study materials proposed on USGBC web site for the Green Associate exam.

1- is there a book that will have more than one practice exam?
2- regarding the printable flash cards mention in the hard copy of the Preparation Guide, LEED v4,: how many flash cards are there in the book? how can we print them from the book?
3- can I print the e-document of the Core Concept Study Guide when i purchase it? in other words, is it a pdf printable version? the reason i am asking, because I prefer to read from a book, but at the same time I don't want to go through shipping issues mention by other exam candidates on this page.
4- again, are the digital resources mentioned in the Study Bundle printable?
5- I live close to washington DC, does the USGBC have a book store that carry the proposed books in their web site.

Regards,

Membership, Credentialing, and Education Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Angie, Thank you for your questions. Please see below for answers to your questions. We wish you the best on the exam!

1- is there a book that will have more than one practice exam?

Here are other USGBC endorsed products to help you prepare for your LEED Green Associate exam:

http://www.usgbc.org/education/sessions/leed-green-associate-v4-exam-prep-4901323

http://www.usgbc.org/education/sessions/all-inclusive-leed-v4-green-associate-exam-prep-9910260 (includes 200 practice questions)

http://www.usgbc.org/education/sessions/leed%C2%AE-exam-prep-101-practical-approach-acing-leed%C2%AE-v4-green-associate-exam-100556

2- regarding the printable flash cards mention in the hard copy of the Preparation Guide, LEED v4,: how many flash cards are there in the book? how can we print them from the book?

LEED AP® BD+C Exam Study Cards are a useful tool for learning the concepts assessed by the LEED AP Building Design and Construction (BD+C) specialty exam. Created by an accomplished LEED® Fellow™, the 400 questions and answers cover LEED concepts, the LEED v4 BD+C rating system credit categories, plus basic prerequisite and credit calculations. The study cards are divided into the following eight categories:

LEED Concepts, Innovation, and Regional Priority
Integrative Process
Location and Transportation
Sustainable Sites
Water Efficiency
Energy and Atmosphere
Materials and Resources
Indoor Environmental Quality

The flash cards are hard copy flashcards. There may be a code in the book that allows you to go online and then print them but we do not have access to that code.

3- can I print the e-document of the Core Concept Study Guide when i purchase it? in other words, is it a pdf printable version? the reason i am asking, because I prefer to read from a book, but at the same time I don't want to go through shipping issues mention by other exam candidates on this page.

It is a PDF. Please note: the book is currently not on back order so you should not experience any issues with purchasing the book online.

4- again, are the digital resources mentioned in the Study Bundle printable?

They are in PDF format.

5- I live close to washington DC, does the USGBC have a book store that carry the proposed books in their web site.

USGBC does not have a bookstore in Washington D.C. so you'll need to purchase through our online store.

Thank you again!

Thank you for much Jackie.

one more question please.
- The flash cards you mention for the BD+C are they useful for the Green Associate Exam?
- The Study Bundle for Green Associate Exam can 100% replace the two separate books: (Core Concept Guide & Preparation Guide,LEED v4).

Regards,

Membership, Credentialing, and Education Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Angie, Yes the flashcards can be useful for studying for the LEED Green Associate exam but they are not specific to the LEED Green Associate exam. I would recommend reviewing this article "
Are you ready to earn your LEED Green Associate credential?" : http://www.usgbc.org/node/10075156 There are some great recommendations for being successful with your LEED Green Associate exam. I hope that helps!

Hi Everyone !!!

I was just going through LEED GA Exam topics with no. of questions might be coming from them, there i noticed PRETEST-15 questions.
Can someone please advice me on same ?

Many Thanks,

Membership, Credentialing, and Education Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Pankaj, Thank you for your question. The pretest questions are non-graded or unscored questions throughout the LEED Green Associate exam. The purpose of these pretest questions are for future test development. You will not know which of the questions will be scored and which will not be scored. I hope that helps to explain your question. Thanks Pankaj and best wishes on the exam!

Hi everyone !!!

Can someone guide me if LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation Guide, LEED v4 Edition along with Core and concept guide enough to clear LEED GA exam.?

Thanks,

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Thank you for your interest in the LEED Green Associate exam. Since each candidate seeking a LEED Green Associate credential has a unique combination of knowledge and experience, it is difficult to recommend the definitive study materials one would need to pass the exam. We suggest starting with the references listed on page 21 of the LEED Green Associates Candidate Handbook http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-green-associate-candidate-handbook. The LEED Core Concepts Guide and LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation Guide, LEED v4 Edition that you mentioned are 2 great primary resources . We would also suggest downloading the introductory sections to the LEED BD + C Reference Guide for free here (scroll down to 'download for free' button): http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-reference-guide-building-design-and-... I hope this helps!

Thank you for your interest in LEED credentials! The basic credential is LEED Green Associate. A great place to start are the references in the LEED Green Associates Candidate Handbook (http://cn.usgbc.org/resources/leed-green-associate-candidate-handbook-chinese). All of the listed references are free, with the exception of the LEED Core Concepts Guide and LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation Guide (http://cn.usgbc.org/resources/study-bundle-leed-green-associate-exam-preparation-guide-leed-v4-edition-and-leed-core-con), a resource which most exam candidates find to be very helpful. Since the primary sources for the development of the LEED® Professional Exams are the LEED Rating Systems, a detailed understanding of these are necessary for success. After the above resources have been explored and studied, most candidates seek the structure of study guides, online or in-person courses and practice exams to further their understanding of the information. Others may start with a course or study guide and explore the resources in detail after.

The following resources will be helpful to you, which offer a route for those who are looking for a place to start.

"Are you ready to earn your LEED Green Associate credential?", 22 Feb 2016 by Alyssa Campagnoni, at the USGBC (http://www.usgbc.org/articles/are-you-ready-earn-your-leed-green-associate-credential)

"Sneak peak: Sample questions for the LEED v4 credential exams," March 31, 2014 by Nora Knox at the USGBC (http://www.usgbc.org/articles/sneak-peak-sample-questions-leed-v4-credential-exams)

Regarding the book prices, one of them is for people from organizations with USGBC membership.

Hello. I would like to purchase the LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation Guide, LEED v4 Edition as an e book, but I would like to know if it is in pdf or some other format. I would also like to know, if I purchase the e book will I be getting the digital resources online as well (practice questions, a complete practice exam, printable flashcards, an illustrated glossary, and more), and if yes would I be able to access them from different places, for example from work as well as from home? Thanks

Membership, Credentialing, and Education Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Filip, thank you for your question! By ordering the hard copy through this site you will have access to both the hard copy as well as digital resources, which allows you more flexibility. To order the eBook you will need to click on the blue "click here" hyperlink above, which will take you to one of our partner sites. It appears from their site that the eBook is in PDF format, but, if you choose to go that route, please consult directly with ATP for your specific questions on their eBook. Thanks!

Membership, Credentialing, and Education Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Antolin, Thank you for your interest in the LEED Green Associate credential. You must be 18 years old to take this exam, but beyond that there are no eligibility requirements. However, we do recommended that you have exposure to LEED and green building concepts through education, volunteering, or work experience. There is a Prometric testing center in Singapore. To learn more about dates and availability, please follow these instructions: 1) Please visit www.prometric.com/ and enter "GBCI" in the Test Sponsor field.

2) Then, confirm "Green Business Certification Inc.", and click "Locate Test Center".

3) Choose the country that you are looking for from dropdown menu, and click "Next".

4) Then, choose "LEED Green Associate" from the dropdown menu, and click "Next".

5) Enter the city where you want to test, and click "search". When you see the testing center that looks most convenient for you, click "Availability" next to the test center's location. This takes you to a clickable calendar showing the available times for each open day.

Hi, dear I work in Saudi Arabia as architect engineer I have question in "LEED Green Associate" exam, Are you have translate for each question inter exam if I select English chose in first exam and I need translate certain question to Arabic ? And how process translate in "LEED Green Associate"?

Administrative Coordinator, LEED Support, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Ahmed,

Thank you for contacting us! When you register for your exam through your online account with USGBC, you will have the option to choose Arabic. If you choose Arabic, this means the exam will be both in English and Arabic (side by side). Does this answer your question?

I am a mechanical engineer with 6 years construction experience in MEP, i am interested in writing leed green associate exam. As per the criteria you need min experience in leed green projects or leed educational program. I dont have leed project experience nor attended any educational programs.
Could you please help me out by suggesting some good education institutes in Al Khobar, Saudi arabia.

Green Building Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Thank you for your interest in LEED credential. "GBCI recommends that candidates taking the LEED® Green Associate™ Exam have exposure to LEED® and green building concepts through educational courses, volunteering, or work experience prior to testing." Because of your construction experience in MEP, you have in-depth understanding of building and its systems, which would be very helpful for your exam. If you would like to have additional materials about green building concepts besides the resources listed in this guide, please visit Education@USGBC (http://www.usgbc.org/education-at-usgbc/listing/basic) for the basic level courses. Best luck with your exam!

Is there a way to purchase an online version which can be downloaded and printed with a password to help maintain the privacy of the document like the PMI does. The shipping cost can be saved and one can print by themselves.
I am interested in an online version at a lower cost.

Hi Debapriva, while there is not an on-line version available, there is an e-book version that would not require shipping.

Is this product can be considered as a Studying Material for Green Associate and LEED BD+C exam?

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Abdullah, this guide can absolutely be considered as study material for the LEED Green Associate Exam. I would also recommend looking at the resources listed on this page and in the Candidate Handbook for the best chance at passing the exam: http://www.usgbc.org/articles/prepare-your-leed-green-associate-exam. The Core Concepts Guide and the Introductory sections of the LEED Building Design + Construction Reference Guide listed here are especially helpful resources.

Thank you for your interest in the LEED Green Associate Exam. We do offer testing in a couple locations in India. One is in Gurgaon and the other that comes up when I search is in Ahmedabad. You can locate a center by logging into www.prometric.com and clicking on 'Locate a Test Center'. Select GBCI as the test provider and then select the location again. The best resources to start to prepare for the exam can be found on this link: http://www.usgbc.org/articles/prepare-your-leed-green-associate-exam. The comments on this page are especially helpful in understanding what materials are best for your needs. We typically recommend the Core Concepts Guide and downloading the Introductory sections of the LEED Building Design + Construction to start. I hope this helps!

Student at Morgan State University

Hello, I'm Kalgi Vadher currently a senior and pursuing my undergrad degree at Morgan State University in Architecture and Environmental Design and graduating in Fall 2016. I have a few queries regarding the exam. I'm looking to sign up for the LEED GA exam in summer 2016. My goal after graduating is to go for M.arch in preservation. I've also talked to my sustainability professor at school regarding the exam and she was more than glad that I was considering it. I was wondering if anyone of you can may be guide me through the process or let me know if I've chosen a good time for it. Also, I'd like to know if this the only book I'll need to prepare for the exam. I'd like to sign up for it in summer and start the preparations right away. Any help would be appreciated. :)

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Thank you for your interest in the LEED Green Associate exam. Right now is a great time for you to study and take the LEED Green Associate exam. We recently instituted new pricing for the exam for students at a much discounted rate (http://www.usgbc.org/articles/discounted-leed-green-associate-exam-pricing-students). Since each candidate seeking a LEED Green Associate credential has a unique combination of knowledge and experience, it is difficult to recommend the definitive study materials one would need to pass the exam. A great place to start are the references in the LEED Green Associates Candidate Handbook http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-green-associate-candidate-handbook. All of the references listed are free and available online, with the exception of the LEED Core Concepts Guide, a resource which most exam candidates find to be very helpful. You should start by downloading the introductory sections to the reference guide for free here (scroll down to 'download for free' button): http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-reference-guide-building-design-and-... After these resources have been explored and studied, most candidates seek the structure of study guides such as this one, or in-person courses (found here http://www.usgbc.org/education-at-usgbc/listing/study). To access or purchase any of these resources you should be logged into your USGBC account. I hope this helps to outline our most frequently recommended study materials for this exam.

Is there a version in Spanish coming soon or available now? I am thinking on taking the LEED Green Associate exam in Spanish but I'm not sure how some terms will be translated and that worries me.

Thank you in advance!

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Thank you for your interest in becoming a LEED Green Associate. We do not have a Spanish Study Bundle for the LEED Green Associate. However, we are working to make LEED as accessible as possible in Spanish. Here are some of the resources we offer in Spanish, which are mostly free to Spanish speakers:
• The LEED Green Associate exam can be taken with a Spanish translation aide. This means that the Spanish translation will appear alongside the English exam questions.
• LEED Green Associate Exam: Spanish Technical Glossary: http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-glossary-terms-translations
• LEED Core Concepts Guide in Spanish: http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-core-concepts-guide-spanish
• LEED Green Associate Candidate Handbook – Spanish: http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-green-associate-candidate-handbook-spanish
For more resources in Spanish, please visit our resources page: http://www.usgbc.org/search/spanish?filters=type%3Aresource
