Hello.
I am looking to take the AP-BD+C exam. What study reference material will be best suited for me to use for this exam?
Bill

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

William, thank you for your interest in earning the LEED AP BD + C credential. I would recommend you consult and study all of the references in The LEED AP BD + C Candidate Handbook for the best chance at passing the test. You can download the handbook here: http://www.usgbc.org/resources/leed-v4-ap-bdc-candidate-handbook. Perhaps one of the best resources is the LEED Reference Guide for Building Design + Construction. You may also find the LEED Exam Prep courses for LEED AP BD + C offered by a couple of our Education Partners very beneficial : http://www.usgbc.org/education-at-usgbc/listing/study. I hope this helps. Best of luck on your exam!

I am looking to get my LEED AP (BD & C specialty) Certification; however, most of the projects my firm deals with are v3 2009. Is this certification exam no longer offered? If not, would you recommend purchasing publications for both v3 2009 and v4?

LEED Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

Brianna, we no longer offer LEED AP exams using v2009 content although you can still register projects under LEED v2009 for just under another year. The LEED v4 Reference Guide will encompass everything in LEED v2009 and more so there is no need to purchase both publications. Best of luck on your exam!

Senior Architectural Engineer, BUiD

I need to buy the Ap BD+C exam preparation guide but when i checked the leed store i found 2 books have the same name one with green cover cost 249$ and the other is in this page with white cover . Which one i must buy to prepare for the exam ??

Green Building Specialist, U.S. Green Building Council

This product is based on 2009 content (see the version above), and is not the best study material for the v4 exam content.

Can I still study for the GA/AP exams with this guide? I own it and want to know whether I need to purchase the v4 guide or whether the v4 material is supplemental and can be purchased separately.

Hello.
I purchased PDF of v2009 Reference Guide. I am wondering if there is any addenda for this, and if so, where can I find it? Thanks for your help in advance!

Landscape Architect

Hello.
I know it is kind of late, but I had to purchase PDF of v2009 Reference Guide. I am wondering if there is any addenda for this, and if so, where can I find it? I did a quick search, but there seems to be none. Thanks for your help in advance!

Principal Architect, Kruger Bensen Ziemer Architects, Inc.

Is USGBC planning for web access to the reference guides, or just stick with the (2) options of hard copy & personal PDF?

Balfour Beatty Construction

Hello Todd,

When the hard copy for the reference guide is purchased, the access is not automatically applied to your account. However, you are entitled to the electronic version with your purchase. To have the access added, please submit the request to education@usgbc.org. Please note the LEED Study Guides do not have an electronic version for a hard copy purchase.

Director, Sustainable Design Services, Woolpert Inc.

Where are the addenda to the BD+C Reference guide now? I can't find them on the new website. If I click on "References" and "Addenda" there are not there either.

Technical Director, LEED, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Nadja, you can access the addenda immediately through the addenda and interpretations database here: https://www.usgbc.org/leedinterpretations/LILanding.aspx . The addenda tables will also be posted later this week.

Project Engineer, Lease Crutcher Lewis

Are there any addenda or updates to the 2009 BD+C Reference Guide that have been published subsequent to June 2010? If so, where do I find and access these documents?

Gilbane Building Company

The ISBN number on my guide is different than both the e-doc version and the hard copy ISBN provided. It is a 2009 version, however. How can I be sure I am studying with the most updated information?

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Jessica,

What ISBN do your have? Any version of the LEED Reference Guide for Green Building Design + Construction will prepare you for the LEED AP BD+C exam. The exam content has NOT changed, as the exam's framework is always based on the test specifications, which does not change.

Gilbane Building Company

The ISBN I have is 9781932444179.
It is a 2009 edition.

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Jessica,

The ISBN that you provided is for the original E-copy of the Green Building Design and Construction Reference Guide, 2009 Edition. This publication can still be used for the LEED AP BD+C exam.

Construction Management Student, Eastern Michigan University

If I purchase the hard cover, am I able to access an e-document of the publication?

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Thomas,

You should have access to the e-copy once your order is processed. If you have any problems with your access, you can contact education@usgbc.org and they will assist you further.

Associate Architect

Hello, i tried to purchase PDF e- document of LEED reference guide for green BD+C online yesterday. But after adding to cart (by logging into my account), when i click on 'continue' button. there is comes a message ''Please find the error below''. But i didn't understand what the error is as it shows only the selected purchase item without any error mentioned . I guess there is some problem with your website. Please correct the website as i need to purchase this reference guide asap.

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Sachin,

Can you send a screen shot of the issue to education@usgbc.org so the issue can be looked into further? A helpdesk ticket may need to be submitted on your behalf to have this error resolved.

Associate Architect

Dear Shara, I sent the email with the screen shot to the said address. Hoping to get a quick response. Regards

Hi there,

My office has the book but I think it's a little older compared to the ones posted here because they don't have the same ISBN although both 2009 edition. What's the difference between the two? Do we need to purchase the new one?

Thanks,
James

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello James,

I am sorry for the confusion. The ISBN listed above is for the e-book. The ISBN for the hard copy format is 978-1-932444-14-8.

LEED PM

My office bought the hard copy a few months ago, since then the office got bigger, is there any way to have an access to an e-copy or do I have to buy 7 more reference guides to facilitate all the team members with one?

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Ricardo,

E-copies are for personal use only. Some companies choose to buy the hard copy format and use it like a library setting. We recommend purchasing LEED Reference Guides for each team member but we do allow for project team members to use hard copy reference guide as a resource for an office.

Senior Associate, RBSD Architects

Please confirm that the e-document (pdf) format for the LEED Reference Guide for Green Building Design and Construction is in a printable format.
Thanks

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hello Mark,

All LEED Reference Guides purchased as an e-book are in a printable format. Only the electronic access provided for a hard copy purchase is non-printable.

Architect, LEED AP BD+C / Team Leader, H-E-B

If I order a hard copy of the LEED Reference Guide for Green Building Design and Construction, and select FedEx Ground as delivery method, how long will it take to arrive in Texas?

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Sheila,

It depends on where you are located in Texas. Normally, it takes approximately 3-4 transit days for the package to arrive. All packages are shipped the day after the order is processed.

Please note each hard copy purchase of the LEED Reference Guides provides access to the non-printable electronic version in your site user account.

I hope this helps!

The present is to make the following question, I try to buy the book LEED Reference Guide v3.0.” Washington D.C: USGBC, 2009.
in version e-document, but could not make the trassaccion.

Maybe You could help me or indicate how I can make the purchase of this book

I waiting for your prompt response

Customer Service Representative, U.S. Green Building Council

Hi Diana,

The description "LEED Reference Guide v3.0" describes what version you wish to purchase. However, it does not show which LEED Rating System is needed. Please select the LEED Reference Guide that you would need based of the corresponding LEED Rating System.

You can purchase LEED publications in our online store.

No sales tax is added to any customers except for residents in the states of California, Colorado, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, New Mexico, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Washington, and Wisconsin.

USGBC has a no return/no refund policy on reference guide purchases. Please be sure that you are ordering the correct and desired guide.

I had purchased the first edition of the BD+C 2009 reference guide a few years ago. Since there are no addenda listing the updates could I get the updated copy free of charge? It doesn't seem fair that I have to pay twice for the same item. Thanks.

The content of the LEED 2009 Reference Guides always remains the same. When new printing is issued, the errors from previous versions are addressed. The last update to the LEED 2009 Reference Guides occurred in July 2012.

I would also suggest downloading the most recent addenda in the Credit Library to the LEED rating systems and reference guides which is updated quarterly. Unfortunately, this is the only option to have the most current information regarding changes to any LEED 2009 Reference Guides once they are released for purchase. I am sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Thanks for the response Shara.

Project Leader, PWGSC

Hi there,
I have a question: are we allowed to print off the e-version?
Also, if i am a chapter member with CaGBC, am I eligible for the member rebate of USGBC?

Digital Marketing Manager, U.S. Green Building Council

Yixiong, you can print the e-document, but according to our copyright policy, it may not be copied or distributed, even if offered free of charge. Also, the member discount is available to employees of a national member organization; it is not available to chapter members.

ESTIMATED

I WANT TO KNOW FOR THE MODE OF PAYMENT OF THE BOOK, AND THE COMPANY RUC.; AND ALSO I WANT ASKING MORE DETAILS ABOUT THE E-BOOK.

I will be happy to assist you. You can currently purchase the LEED Publications by credit card. However if you wish to pay by check, please submit the request to education@usgbc.org for further assistance.

Director, Environmental Stwardship, Austin Community College District

The member price is $160.00 for the book I am ordering, but when I choose PDF (e-copy) it does not subtract $15.00 from the price, as it states. The price becomes $150.00 rather than $160.00.

Digital Marketing Manager, U.S. Green Building Council

Andy, I apologize for the confusion. The non-member price on the hard-copy is $195 and the member price on the hard-copy is $160. The non-member price on the e-document is $180 and the member price on the e-document is $150. The member discount on a hard-copy is $35, but for an e-document is $30. We are working on a solution for how this price is displayed.

Director, Environmental Stwardship, Austin Community College District

If a hard copy is purchased, is there an electronic copy provided also?

Digital Marketing Manager, U.S. Green Building Council

Andy, access to the e-document is not provided when a hard copy is purchased.

Senior Sustainability Engineer, Arup

Are there any plans to issue a new version including all addenda published (especially the recent Global ACP). The savings in my time for not editing my copy would be worth to buy a new guide.

Digital Marketing Manager, U.S. Green Building Council

Jens, we will not reprint the reference guides with new addenda. However free electronic supplements which reflect APC updates will be made available.

Please clarify confirm cost of e-document PDF - what does -$15.00 mean

Digital Marketing Manager, U.S. Green Building Council

Isaac, -$15.00 means that the e-document (PDF) is $15 less than the total. So the non-member e-document (PDF) is $180, and the member e-document (PDF) is $145.
