Just starting out in your green career? Greenbuild is a fantastic place to feel the energy and momentum of the sustainability movement. Every year, around 10,000 green building professionals gather to learn about the latest industry updates, share their stories and set higher goals for transforming our world.
Join them from Nov. 19–22 in Atlanta, Georgia, to
- Hear galvanizing keynotes from President Barack Obama and climate activist Jamie Margoli.
- Dig into the details of LEED v4.1, the newest version of the LEED rating system.
- Connect with advocates of resilience or global health at the Greenbuild summits.
Greenbuild Atlanta offers 15 specialized education tracks on a broad range of current topics, from human health and well-being to equitable development, resilience and zero waste. You can sort your choices by learning level, rating system, CE hours or keywords, as well as tracks. Browse Greenbuild tracks and sessions.
If you're from the region, or work on projects there, make sure to check out the track "Southern Sustainability: Regional Highlights" for sessions you might find of particular interest.
Did you know you can earn your LEED Green Associate credential at Greenbuild? This foundational credential is an opportunity to distinguish your expertise in the job market. At Greenbuild, you can take a full-day workshop, culminating in the exam—with same-day results. Be sure to register by Oct. 29, to allow adequate time for pre-workshop study.
Special events and social hours
The host community for Greenbuild Atlanta, USGBC Georgia, has a thriving emerging professionals community, who engage in frequent tours and get-togethers in the region. Before Greenbuild, on Nov. 7, the USGBC Georgia emerging professionals group will hang out with Greenbuild volunteers at a special appreciation event at GameX. Are you a volunteer or Georgia EP member? Contact Jeff Denno for more details.
On Nov. 20 at Greenbuild, gather in the Expo Hall for "Happy Hour in the Hall" at 5 p.m. for opportunities to schmooze with colleagues. November 21 brings a second chance, at 4 p.m., and don't forget to stop by the main USGBC/GBCI booth to ask questions and browse our publications.
Also on Nov. 21, stop by the Emerging Professionals Booth for USGBC Georgia at 4 p.m. for its "USGBC Emerging Professionals Forum." This informal, table-talk happy hour lets attendees from around the U.S. share the unique needs of emerging professionals looking to advance their role in the green industry. Come find out what other local communities are doing, and take ideas back home to inspire future programming in your own community.
Hear from women leaders in the industry at the Women in Green Power Luncheon on Nov. 20. A panel of exemplary women in sustainability will speak to the "Culture of Courage" that we seek to affirm in society and the green building community.
Last but not least, party like it's 1995 with rock band Collective Soul at the Greenbuild Celebration on Nov. 21 at the LEED Platinum Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Locally sourced food and drink are offered along with the music at this finale to the Greenbuild experience.
