USGBC is collaborating with our Building Efficiency Accelerator (BEA) partners to host a webinar on Wed., May 10 from 9–10:15 a.m. The webinar will cover commonly used incentive strategies for spurring the growth of green buildings in the private sector.
The BEA is a public-private partnership that accelerates local government implementation of building efficiency policies and programs—one of six accelerators under the United Nations Sustainable Energy for All (SE4All) umbrella. SE4All was established with the goal of doubling the rate of improvement in energy efficiency by 2030 across all sectors.
Building on the first webinar from this working group, which featured the "what" and "why" of above-code construction, the May 10 webinar will look in greater detail at different policy options intended to stimulate green building in the private sector. Speakers from jurisdictions in the United States and abroad will provide overviews of real-life, proven policies and programs that have been leveraged to spark above-code construction, and in some cases, green building certification.
Policy and program types to be covered:
- Density bonuses
- Tax incentives
- Expedited permitting
- Public recognition and challenge programs
- The effect of requirements on government-owned and operated properties on the private sector
