Join USGBC for the 2019 SFI Annual Conference, to be held in Richmond, Virginia, Oct. 21–25. The conference, themed "Forests of Opportunity," will discuss topics of relevance to the American, Canadian and international forest sectors.
Learn about innovative wood buildings
On Wednesday, Oct. 23, USGBC’s senior vice president of marketing and communications, Taryn Holowka, will participate in a panel of experts to discuss building with sustainable materials. The panel, "The Sky’s the Limit with Innovative Wood Buildings," will take place from 1:30–2:30 p.m.
Buildings are responsible for approximately 40% of global carbon emissions. Cities grapple with reducing CO2 emissions while population projections soar. The panel will discuss how mass timber construction and certified wood-based building materials address climate change, biodiversity and conservation goals; ensure supply chain assurance; and provide risk mitigation.
