View the exemplary green building projects and leaders nominated for this year’s awards.

The 2019 Community Leadership Award program honors individuals and organizations whose exemplary work has been influential in the expansion of sustainable, higher-performing buildings and projects throughout USGBC's local communities in the West North Central region, which includes Central Plains, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri Gateway, Nebraska Flatwater, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

After an open call for submissions, we are proud to announce the exemplary list of green building projects and leaders that have been nominated for this year’s awards. The nominee slate is currently under jury review, and the results will be announced in June.

Building and project nominees

Innovative Design, New Construction: This award is for a project certified under LEED for Building Design and Construction (BD+C) that demonstrates use of new technologies and strategies to push the envelope of green design and meet project challenges in an innovative way.

Innovative Project, Interiors: For a project certified under LEED for Interior Design and Construction that demonstrates use of new technologies and strategies to push the envelope of green design and meet project challenges in an innovative way.

Innovative Project, Residential: For a residential or LEED Homes project that demonstrates use of new technologies and strategies to push the envelope of green design and operations, meeting project challenges in innovative ways.

Innovative Project, Existing Building Performance: For a project certified under LEED for Operations and Maintenance that demonstrates a significant increase in building performance through the implementation of sustainable design solutions.

Outdoor Environments: For a project that demonstrates innovative use of integrating landscape design into its space and uses environmentally responsible landscaping techniques.

Individual, team or organizational nominees

Most Successful Community Engagement: For a project team that has demonstrated creative and innovative strategies for connecting either with its internal or external community through a building project.
