Apply by January 31 to join one of the international steering committees for LEED.

Are you interested in contributing to the future of LEED? Your time is now. USGBC is issuing a call for self-nominations of qualified applicants to serve as volunteer members of six new Regional LEED Steering Committees. These volunteers will play a critical role in prioritizing and overseeing LEED technical development activities in their respective global regions.

The following LEED committees are now accepting applications for members:

  • Latin America and the Caribbean Regional LEED Steering Committee
  • Europe Regional LEED Steering Committee
  • Middle East Regional LEED Steering Committee
  • Africa Regional LEED Steering Committee
  • Greater China Regional LEED Steering Committee
  • Asia Pacific Regional LEED Steering Committee

The call for volunteers will stay open until Wed., January 31 at 8 p.m. PT. There is no set number of volunteer positions available, but we expect to fill about 100 seats. Each volunteer position will be for a two-year term, beginning April 2018.

Application tips

You can demonstrate your understanding of LEED in multiple ways. Have you participated in the certification process before? Do you hold a LEED credential? Are you an expert in one or more LEED credit categories?

Share your perspective on LEED in your region. How could the rating system be improved to serve your market? How does LEED relate to local green building policies or programs?

Tell us about your unique contributions as a volunteer. Do you excel at research and technical writing? Are you a strong facilitator and communicator? Do you have experience with a wide range of building types?

Confirm that you are employed by a USGBC member organization. If you are not already employed by a USGBC member organization, begin a conversation with your employer about the benefits of membership as you apply. If nominated to serve on a Regional LEED Steering Committee, volunteers must comply with this policy prior to the start of their volunteer terms.
