By this time next week, I’ll be in Philadelphia working with the team to put the final touches on our 12th annual Greenbuild International Conference & Expo. It’s incredible to me, but every year Greenbuild just keeps getting bigger and better.
This year we celebrate USGBC’s 20th Anniversary, and we are coming together in Philadelphia as innovators, experts, advocates, and leaders sharing the common cause of the global green building movement. The market transformation can be footprinted in the nearly 200,000 LEED projects that comprise 10.4 billion square feet of construction space in 140 nations. The power sources behind this transformation are the 189,000+ LEED Professionals, our 13,000 strong membership community, and our 77 chapters. These are staggering numbers.
Next week Philadelphia will be the epicenter of our movement. We’ll hear from a rock star list of plenary and master speakers. We’ll learn the details about LEED v4, celebrate leadership, do business in the expo hall, and connect with our global network of friends and colleagues. And we’ll rock the house with an excellent concert on Thursday night.
For those of you who will be with us in spirit, we’ll be tweeting the #Greenbuild news from @RickFedrizzi, @USGBC and @Greenbuild. We’ll also be blogging and streaming all week to help you stay engaged. And I hope that next year you’ll be able to join us in New Orleans, or alternatively, Sao Paulo, Brazil for our new international show in partnership with Hanley Wood and GBC Brazil. This is a global movement, and that means a truly global celebration.
We’re 10 days and counting and I just wanted to thank you for being members of USGBC, and encourage you, if you haven’t already done so, to register for Greenbuild and join us. It has been an extraordinary 20 years. Here’s to 20 more!
See you in Philly!
